Corrosion Under Insulation

Hot process vessels and piping frequently suffer from corrosion when damaged cladding allows moisture to be trapped under the insulation or when overflows or spills allow corrosive process fluids to attack the vessel’s external surface.Previously, system shut down was required to allow time for prep, repair and coating of the corroded vessel. Pro-MEC Engineering Services solves the problem by rebuilding and coating the corrosion prone areas with a heat activated epoxy polymer product. Small areas of insulation can be removed and the tank surface repaired and coated without shutting down the process, Belzona® heat activated products are designed to bond to the hot surface with minimal surface prep to minimize the time between removal and reinstallation of the insulation. These same products are effective in bonding doubler plates on steam and hot water lines for repair of pinhole leaks, Surface temperatures from 30° to 150° C can be accommodated.


Potable Hot Water

Hot water storage tanks in dorms or large industrial/commercial facilities can get pretty crusty after years of being in service. The cost to remove and replace a tank can include architectural demolition and reconstruction. A much less costly alternative is to coat the wetted surfaces with a coating approved for use in potable hot water tanks. Pro-MEC Engineering Services solves the problem by rebuilding and coating the tanks inner services with the appropriate epoxy polymer product. Whether you are running an athletic shower system or hot water storage for a multi-story apartment complex, a failed hot water tank is not an option. Application includes blasting the corroded surfaces, rebuilding the pitted areas, and applying two coats of epoxy polymer. The rebuild and coating products are selected for hot potable water contact. Tube Sheets

Heat exchangers chillers and evaporators frequently suffer bimetallic corrosion due to the reaction of the chemicals in the system and the dissimilar metals of the heat transfer tubes and the tube sheets. This corrosion affects the end covers, marine boxes and separator bars causing system inefficiencies and shortened equipment life. Pro-MEC Engineering Services solves the problem by rebuilding and coating the corrosion prone areas with the appropriate epoxy polymer product. Whether you are running a chiller on your building HVAC system, an evaporator in a chemical processing plant, or a heat exchanger in a power plant, we can choose the correct Belzona® products to extend the life of your equipment. Application includes corking the tubes, blasting the corroded surfaces, rebuilding the pitted areas and rebuilding separator bars as required, applying two coats of epoxy polymer and uncorking the tubes. The rebuild and coating products are selected for wear resistance, chemical contact, and temperature of operation to ensure longevity.
